I would like to create "canned searches" in The CAT to use multiple times, and also share them as URL links in documentation that I prepare.

Yes, you can create WebCAT search strings for particular sets of items, and save the searches to re-use in subsequent WebCAT sessions. Since you can share these same links with other users, they are also excellent for instructional purposes.

Examples: you can create a search string to limit retrieval to ....
  • a single word such as "lupus"
  • a single MARC field such as "505"
  • a particular publication year, format type, or electronic resource
  • ... and more
For detailed information, this link tells you how to construct WebCAT URL links
