How to Connect to a Fileshare from Off Campus Locations

Prerequisites

• You must have an active internet connection.
• You must install the updated registry settings for the DCE domain--available from https://downloads.its.psu.edu/products/kerbPASS/psuksetup.reg  You will only have to install the registry change update once, not each time you connect.
• You must have the PSU VPN installed--available from https://downloads.its.psu.edu/ .

Steps to Connect

1. Double-click on the VPN connection and connect using LIAS VPN enter your Access ID and password Once connected, click the Windows Start button.
2. Click Run.  A dialog box will appear.
3. Type \\fileserver.psul.psu.edu\share name (For example to access the user share on roo enter \\roo.psul.psu.edu\abc123)
   
4. If you are prompted for your Access user id and password, enter user ID as dce.psu.edu\abc123 (where abc123 is your Access ID) and your Access password.  The share you requested should open in a new window.
