Penn State Adobe Connect FAQ

Q: Who can use Adobe Connect?
A: Adobe Connect can be used by anyone with a Penn State Access Account (faculty, staff, and students) or Friends of Penn State Account (https://fps.psu.edu/mkuser/index.html). First-time Friends of Penn State (FPS) Penn State Adobe Connect users must go to http://meeting.psu.edu/login to login before attending any Adobe Connect sessions.

Q: What machines have Adobe Connect installed on them?
A: Machines with a current Web browser should be capable of running Adobe Connect. For more details on the specific requirements, see http://meeting.psu.edu/requirements

Q: What do I need to do to participate in an Adobe Connect session?
A: http://meeting.psu.edu/quickstart

Q: Does I-Tech lend equipment (headsets, microphones, cameras, etc.) for Adobe Connect to University Libraries faculty and staff?
A: No. It’s a good idea to order your own so that you have it whenever you need it. (It’s fairly inexpensive.) Recommended equipment can be found here: http://meeting.psu.edu/camera

Q: What do I need to do to host an Adobe Connect session?
A:  University Libraries faculty and staff can contact one of the designated University Libraries Adobe Connect Meeting Creators listed at https://intranet.libraries.psu.edu/home/itech/training/tutorials/adobeconnectadmins.htmlSee http://meeting.psu.edu/hosts for more instructions on hosting.

Q: Can MediaSite Live capture a remote presenter on Adobe Connect?
A: Yes. Make sure you do the following:
  • Don’t use wireless internet connections. (Wireless may get bogged down by audio/video.)
  • Have someone on site to keep the screen from hibernating.
  • Have the person on site field the questions to the presenter through Adobe Connect’s chat.
